Peggy Vae Baker, daughter of Clarence Enis Baker and Vava Berdine Baker, was born August 12, 1930 in Jefferson, Iowa and died August 28, 2007 at the Greene County Medical Center Long Term Care Unit at the age of 77 years and 16 days. Peggy graduated from Jefferson High School in 1949. During high school her family remembers she was proud of being the State Treasurer for FHA. In 1949 she was married and was mother of four daughters, Fran, Vava, Lisa, and Peggy. She was a dispatcher for the Jefferson police department for several years and then manager of the Duesseyburger Cafe. Peggy was head cook at the County Care Facility, worked as a cashier at Schaal's Restaurant, and then worked 20 years at Chicago Rivet before she retired. Peggy was a member of Central Church. She was an avid reader, fantastic cook, great concersationalist, and enjoyed politics. Peggy was very thoughtful of others and sent many greeting cards to family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandmother May Hayes. Peggy is survived by her four daughters, Fran, Vava Guthrie, Lisa Monahan, and Peggy Johnson; four grandchildren, Andrew, Tyler, Gabrielle, and Abbagail; brother Harlan Baker and wife Carol; aunts, Georgia Hays, and uncle, Stuart Weaver; cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
