Phil Hart went to be with the Lord on January 31, 2019. He was 74. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. in the Winterset Cemetery on Saturday, April 6th and the family will gather to greet friends at a reception immediately following at the Winterset American Legion until 4 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the family for a later designation and online condolences may be left for the family at ochiltree.com. Phillip K. Hart was born October 26, 1944, in Winterset, Iowa; the son of Ivan and Maxine (Hardy) Hart. He served in the United States Air Force during Vietnam. Phil was united in marriage to Betty (Ahlschlager) Hart on June 7, 1979. During their married life, Phil and Betty lived in Colorado, Minnesota and New Mexico. Phil graduated from Winterset High School in 1963. He attended Body and Fender School in Omaha, Nebraska. He also attended Front Range Community College in Colorado and was a machinist apprentice in Rocky Flats, Colorado. Phil worked as a machinist for 35 years, retiring in 2008 from Los Alamos National Lab. Phil was a Police Officer for the Longmont Police Department in Rocky Flats, Colorado. He worked at the Pawnee Plastic Company in Maple Plain, Minnesota, and at Sun Country Aero Space in Albany, New Mexico. He loved fishing and all outdoor activities. He also enjoyed traveling and wood working. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Betty Hart; sons, Kirt Hart of Longmont, CO and Kyle (Darla) Hart of Texarkana, TX; a grandson, Kris Hart; brothers, Larry (Kaye) Hart of Roswell, GA, Neil Hart of Fairplay, CO; sister, Nina (Larry) Hitsman, many nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends. Phil was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son, Kris.
