Phylliss Peterson of Winterset and formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, February 18, 2017. She was 89. A private committal will take place at Cedar Memorial Cemetery in Cedar Rapids. Memorials may be directed to a charity of the donor’s choosing. Phylliss Peterson, daughter of Dean and Fern (Dickerson) Smith, was born November 2, 1927, in Beaconsfield, Iowa. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in Cedar Rapids. Her marriage to Ray Ingels took place in 1946 and after his death, Phylliss married Merle Peterson on November 22, 1957. She was a member of Knox Presbyterian Church in Cedar Rapids and attended St. Paul Lutheran Church in Winterset. She was a homemaker and was an avid card player. Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Dennis Peterson of Kansas City, MO; Bob (Wendy) Ingels of Puyallup, WA; Bill Ingels of Cedar Rapids; Lesley Hawkins of Ames; Sheri Anderson of Overland Park, KS; 12 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren. Phylliss was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Ray, Merle, two brothers and two sisters. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the staff and nurses at West Bridge Care and Rehab and HCI Hospice for the special care they have shown to Phylliss and her family.
