Des Moines - Priscilla Louise Bjerg of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away on January 21, 2018. Priscilla was born on May 7, 1924 in Des Moines to Louise (Astley) and Alex Parks. After graduating from East High School in 1942 she worked at the Ankeny Ordnance Plant during World War II. She married Emmert Bjerg on January 28, 1945 and was married to Emmert for 64 years until his passing away in 2009. Priscilla worked at Aetna Casualty & Surety before moving to Newton, Iowa in 1957. During her 14 years in Newton she was a homemaker, she worked at Denniston Partridge Lumber Company and she was active in the First Lutheran Church. In 1971 Priscilla returned to Des Moines and she worked 18 years as office manager for Kieffer Advertising. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. Priscilla is survived by: son Robert (Kathi) Bjerg in Kansas City, Missouri; daughter-in-law Colleen Bjerg in Norcross, Georgia; 3 granddaughters: Laura (Patrick) LaHue, Anne Bjerg, and Lindsey Bjerg; 2 great-grandchildren: Autumn La Hue and Dean LaHue; sister Caroline Iiams; and several nieces and nephews. Priscilla was preceded in death by her mother and father; her husband Emmert, and her son Gregory. The family will hold a Celebration of Life for Priscilla on February 11th from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Scottish Rite Park, 2909 Woodland Ave, Des Moines, Iowa 50312. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) of Iowa.
