Randy D. Kerr - Winterset

Randy D. Kerr, 63, of Winterset, Iowa, died Saturday, August 11, 2012 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, August 15, 2012, at the Foursquare Gospel Church in Winterset with Associate Pasor Jaysson Gurwell officiating. Burial with military honors will be in the Iowa Veterans Cemetery at Van Meter, Iowa. Randy was born on January 29, 1949, at Chicago, Illinois to Deane and Lillian (Langlo) Kerr. After graduating I-35 High School, Randy entered the US Navy. He was a career Navy man serving as a medic and an environmental health specialist during a span which included the Viet Nam Conflict. While in the military, Randy married Diane Louise Osborn on April 18, 1970 at Winterset, Iowa. After 18 years in the military he returned to the Winterset area. He had been a member of the Oak Grove Community Church and the Madison County Republicans. Randy is survived by his mother, Lillian Kerr; daughters, Heather (James) Hatch of Winterset and Jennifer (Shawn) Stroeber of Earlham; brothers, Terry (Pam) Kerr of Winterset and Danny (Diane) Kerr of Andover, MN; grandchildren, Evan, Michaela, Elijah, Honor, and Isolde Hatch and Seth, Jacob, Zechariah, Caleb, Titus and Benjamin Stroeber. He was preceded in death by his father, Deane Kerr and wife, Diane L. Kerr. Visitation will be Tuesday from noon to 8 PM at the Foursquare Gospel Church with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 PM. Memorials may be directed to his family for a future designation.
