Our loving father, grandfather (Papa), son, brother, and friend, Randall (Randy) Oberembt went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday December 14, 2022.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 22 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Adel, Iowa with Father Gubbels and Father Remi officiating. A luncheon will follow the service with burial at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Dallas Center, Iowa. Visitation with the family will be held from at 5 P.M. to 7 P.M. on Wednesday, December 21 with a Prayer Service at 7 P.M. also at St. John’s Catholic Church.
Randy was born March 31, 1957 in Des Moines, Iowa, and was the son of Ray and Ann (Degen) Oberembt.
Randy graduated from Adel-DeSoto High School in 1975 and went on to work with his father at the family business, Ray Electric. In 1990, he joined the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local #33, where he spent most of his working years in HVAC, plumbing and electrical, before retiring at the end of 2021.
Randy most valued his faith and family, as he was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Adel, Iowa. He enjoyed reading and watching westerns, Polka dancing, attending ISU wrestling meets, coaching his children and grandchildren’s various sports, riding his Harley with the church group, Blessed Bikers, trap shooting, and hunting. After a 7-month battle with a severe eye infection and 2 corneal transplants of his dominant right eye, he was determined to return to hunting. He successfully went out with a “bang” by harvesting a nice buck the last night of his journey here on earth.
Randy is survived by his 3 children, Cassandra, Kaitlyn, and Colby; 3 grandchildren, Brecken, Autumn, and Jhett; 2 brothers: Russ and Rick (Cindy), his mother, Ann, and many nieces and nephews.
Randy was preceded in death by his father, Ray Oberembt and the mother of his children, Sandra Nelson-Johnson.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family for a memorial scholarship in Randy’s honor
