Richard Devault

Richard DeVault, 87, of Winterset, passed away at his home on Sunday, December 18, 2022.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at the First United Methodist Church in Winterset with a visitation held prior, from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in the Winterset Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to First United Methodist Church, Winterset.

Richard Dean DeVault was born in Winterset, Iowa on July 7, 1935, the son of Gyle and Margaret (Bruett) DeVault. He graduated from Winterset High School in 1953. He was united in marriage to Mary Louise Bane on December 4, 1955 at the First United Methodist Church in Winterset. He lived his entire life in Winterset.

Richard was a highway construction superintendent for 35 years. He was also a custodian at the Madison County Courthouse. He retired January 2, 1998. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Winterset. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, football, and baseball. He also loved the many vacations he took.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Gyle and Margaret (Bruett) DeVault and his sister, Betty Leeper.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Louise DeVault; children, Gary (Jodene) DeVault, Debra DeVault Weeks, and Pamela K. (Todd) Mace; four grandchildren, Dustin (Jessica) DeVault, Janelle (Adam) Vandekamp, Ashley Chestnut, and Logan Mace; and ten great-grandchildren.
