Richard J. Corkrean - Winterset

Richard J. Corkrean, 60, of Winterset, Iowa, died Sunday, May 3, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 AM Friday, May 8, 2015, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Winterset with Father Dan Kirby officiating. Burial will be in the Winterset Cemetery at Winterset. Rich was born on November 30, 1954, at Winterset, Iowa to Gene and Shirley (Palmer) Corkrean. He grew up in Madison County and had been a lifetime resident. Rich was a 1973 graduate of Winterset High School. He was married on June 6, 1981 at Winterset to Jana Moore. To this union were born three children, Brad, Brent and Mikaela. Rich had been the facility manager at the Madison County Memorial Hospital for 28 years. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Winterset Airport Authority Board, and was a Madison County Hospital Board Trustee. Rich is survived by his mother, Shirley (Palmer) Corkrean of Winterset; wife, Jana Corkrean of Winterset; sons, Brad Corkrean of Overland Park, KS and Brent Corkrean of Des Moines; daughter, Mikaela Corkrean of Cedar Falls; brothers, Steve (Nancy) Corkrean of Winterset, John (Sandy) Corkrean of Osceola, Terry Corkrean of Ankeny; sisters, Kathy (Terry) Thomas of Ankeny, Colleen (Marc) Ewers of Des Moines, Patty (Michael) Denison of Des Moines, and Laurie (Dave) Adams of Ankeny; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Gene Corkrean. Visitation will be Thursday from noon to 7 PM at St. Joseph Catholic Church with family receiving friends from 5 to 7 PM. Vigil service will be at 7 PM. Memorials may be directed to St. Joseph Catholic Church or Madison County Memorial Hospital.
