Richard Meyer

Richard A. Meyer, 90, of Urbandale passed away peacefully on December 30, 2021 at the Bishop Drumm Nursing home. He was born on November 4, 1931 in Truesdale, Iowa to Edward and Blanche (Martine) Meyer. He was a high school graduate of Truesdale High School. He went on to work in construction for James W. Bell Company for 30 plus years. He married Georgia Smith on September 10, 1960 at the Basilica of St. John in Des Moines. Dick enjoyed Fishing and taking many vacations up north to Leach Lake in Minnesota to fish for many kinds of fish, especially walleye. He was a good gardener and woodworker. Overall he loved to spend time with his grandkids. He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Georgia; parents, Edward and Blanche; grandson, David Richard Meyer; 3 brothers and 3 sisters. Dick is survived by his 2 sons, Vern (Rebecca) Meyer of Ankeny, and Tom Meyer of Urbandale; and grandchildren, John Meyer and Alexandra Meyer. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
