Richard Paul Williams was born on November 2, 1954 in Winterset, Iowa: the son of Ralph and Viola (Powell) Williams. He was a Winterset graduate with the class of 1973. He was united in marriage to Susan Stuchel on June 27, 2009 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church; they were the last couple to marry in the old church. Richard often said that his wedding day was one of the best days of his life. Richard worked at a variety of jobs throughout his life. His jobs included driving a bus and working as a custodian for the schools. His last job before retirement was as a security guard for Rochester Armored Car Service. While he was currently semi-retired, Richard worked at Kum & Go as a night supervisor. Richard was a man of great character, compassion, and strong faith. His most important job was to care for his loved ones, especially his wife, Sue. He loved getting together with his large extended family. The monthly family breakfast was an event that he never missed. In high school, Richard was heavily involved in FFA as the chapter president. He loved Ag and everything related to it! He was also a member of the Winterset High School Band, playing baritone sax. Rich was also a history buff. He loved the Civil War, WWII, and the history of Madison County. He volunteered to work at an information booth at the Covered Bridge Festival every year. He currently belonged to the Knights of Columbus. He loved sharing fellowship with his fellow Knights and working their service projects. His favorite time was working every Friday at the fish frys. He is survived by his wife, Sue; his mother, Viola Williams; brother, John (Debra); and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Williams.
