A service for Richard "Dick" Wullenwaber was held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at Hastings Funeral Home in Perry. Visitation was Monday August 20, 2012 from 11:00 a.m. till 8:00 p.m. with family present 6-8 at Hastings. Rev. Ken Bose of the Trinity Lutheran Church provided words of comfort. Dick's honorary bearers were: Jim McGrean, Chris Erwin, Austin Engstrom, Paul Brekke, Justin Miller, Joe Straker, David Erwin, Scott Erwin, and Keith Harms. Casket bearers were: Darryl Miller, Jack Erwin, Rick Erwin, Jim Engstrom, Chuck Erwin, and Jerry Erwin. Organist Virginia White accompanied by soloist Dave Menz played "You Raise Me Up' and "On Eagle's Wings." Interment for Dick took place at Violet Hill Cemetery following the service. Richard Floyd Wullenwaber, son of Floyd and Mary "Edith" Parks Wullenwaber, was born March 15, 1946 in Jefferson, Iowa and died August 17, 2012 at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines at the age of 66. Dick lived with his family in Grand Junction where he received his education. He worked with his dad's business, operating the grinder and hammer mill. On June 14, 1964, Dick was united in marriage to Connie Johnson at the First United Methodist Church in Boone, Iowa. The couple was blessed with two girls, Teresa Rene and Paula Sue. The family lived in Boone where Dick worked for Montgomery Ward. When they moved to Jefferson Dick worked at McAtee Tire, later moving to Perry to work for Perry Tire in 1970. Dick also worked for Dave Goodrich for 25 years before going to Percival Scientific where he worked for 6 or 7 years before retiring. Dick enjoyed camping and hunting mushrooms, and collecting miniature cars and drinking mugs. However, his greatest joy was his family and he loved spending time with them and his many friends. On August 24, 1990 Dick and Renee Ann Lisle Bahmann were united in marriage at the Little White Chapel in Las Vegas, Nevada. Dick became a loving step-father to Chuck, Rick, Jack, Jerry Erwin, and Kim Bahmann. Dick was a member of the Moose Lodge where he was the 50th Governor and administrator. He was a former member of the Elks Lodge as well. Dick is preceded in death by his parents Floyd and Mary "Edith" Wullenwaber; brother Bob Wullenwaber; infant sister Marjorie Wullenwaber; brother-in-law Rollie Lisle; mother-in-law Gladys and father-in-law Dean Lisle. Dick is survived by and will be lovingly remembered by his wife Renee of Perry; daughters Teresa Rene and her husband Darryl Miller of Boone and Paula Sue and her husband Paul Brekke also of Boone; step-children: Chuck and wife Judy Erwin of West Des Moines, Rick and wife Sam Erwin of West Des Moines, Jack and wife Joan Erwin of St. Mary's, Jerry and wife Lori Erwin of Jewell, Kim and her husband Jim Engstrom of Harcourt, Anna Marie Harms of Waukee and Donna and her husband Jim McGrean of Johnston; 21 grandchildren including Justin and Nicole Miller of Boone; 21 great grandchildren; brother Don and his wife Joann Wullenwaber of Arizona; brothers-in law Larry and his wife Karen Lisle of St. Charles, MO; Bob and wife Carol Lisle of San Antonio, TX; sisters in law Darlene Wullenwaber of Jefferson, Linda Lisle of Alden, Deana Sheehy of Jamaica, IA; several nieces and nephews; other relatives, and many friends. www.hastingsfh.com
