On June 28, 2013, God cast out his fishing line and caught a fisherman big enough to keep. Bob, 84, was born at home on a snowy Christmas Day, December 25, 1928, to Lawrence Wesley Wolfe and Hazel Marie Rose in Runnells, IA. Bob graduated from Tech High School and was drafted into the Army. He was severely wounded in Korea and was honorably discharged, earning a purple heart. Upon returning home, he met his wife, Shirley Mae Sherman, on a blind date. They married February 28, 1953, celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary this year. To this union were born two children. Left to cherish his memory are is wife Shirley; daughter Denise (Todd) McAtee, Dallas Center; son Chuck and grandson Austin, of Adel; grandson Nicholas (Cory) McAtee, Missoula, MT; granddaughter Christine (Nick) Hasty, De Soto; grandson Wade (Emily) McAtee, Urbandale; great-grandchildren Madison and Jack Hasty, Ashlen McAtee, and Alex McAtee; great-nephew Tim (Cyndi) Cook and Emily Cook. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; a sister; a brother; in-laws; grandson Tyler Davis Wolfe; and great-grandson Ethan Nicholas McAtee. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Tuesday July 2, 2013 at the First Christian Church in Adel with burial at Oakdale Cemetery. Friends may call after 2:00 PM Monday at McCalley Funeral Home in Adel where family will greet friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM with prayer service at 7:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Adel American Legion or his church. Online condolences can be left at this site.
