Robert (Bob) Edward Collins, 92, of Adel died December 18, 2022 in Adel surrounded by family. Funeral services will be 10:30am Thursday, December 22, at the First Christian Church in Adel with Burial at Oakdale Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7 pm, Wednesday December 21, at the First Christian Church in Adel.
Bob was the first child of T.A. and Margaret (Snelling) Collins, born in Wahoo, Nebraska on October 28, 1930. Bob graduated from DeSoto High School in 1948. Bob served in the Army during the Korean War; once discharged he came back to the Adel area and began is life-long farming operation. He married the love of his life, Carolyn Dye, on November 17, 1956. They loved to square dance, play cards with friends and travel. Bob volunteered on numerous agriculture boards, as well as led church youth and 4-H groups. Bob loved watching his kids or grandkids (or any kids) showing animals or playing sports.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Hutoka Lamb, wife Carolyn, and brothers-in-law Nick Button and Ernie Lamb.
He is survived by sister-in-law Joyce Button, daughter Robin Reasoner; son Rod (Ann) Collins; two grandchildren Kate and Spencer Collins; nieces and nephews and dear friends.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the ProMedica Hospice group (www.promedicahospice.org/desmoines), the First Christian Church in Adel, the Dallas County Fairgrounds or the Adel American Legion Penoach Post 464-all groups dear to Bob’s heart.
