Robert Eugene Lingner Sr., son of Herbert William Lingner and Iona Darnell Buchmiller Lingner, was born February 17, 1930 in Grand Junction, Iowa, and died October 19, 2009 at Perry Healthcare in Perry, Iowa at the age of 79 years, 8 months, 2 days. A Celebration of Life Service was held at 7:00 p. m. Thursday October 22, 2009, at Hastings Funeral Home, Perry, Iowa, Pastor Deb Parkison of the United Methodist Church, Rippey, Iowa officiated and provided the words of comfort and special music was He Touched Me and Just A Closer Walk With Thee. Bob's honorary bearers were Chuck Vandever, Jupe Stewart and Mike Kanealy. Recorded music was Grandpa and The Walk, burial will take place at Junction Twp. Cemetery, Grand Junction, Iowa. Bob's Friend's and family had a time of refreshments and fellowship in the lounge following the service. Bob had been lovingly called "Dingy". He grew up in Grand Junction and attended school through 11th grade. Bob left school to help support his family. He met JoAnn Wigfield in Perry and they were married October 5, 1954 in Adel, Iowa. They were blessed with four children, Cheryl, Robert Jr., Jolene, and Mary. The family lived in Perry where Bob worked for the Davison Chemical plant for 16 years and then worked for Oscar Mayer for 17 years. He retired in April of 1983. For over 20 years Bob worked a second job with Harold "Red" Taylor, helping on the farm. During his life, Bob enjoyed playing pool, playing and calling Bingo, collecting pop tabs for charity, watching baseball, fishing, playing poker, stockcars, riding his moped, and walking to town. Bob also enjoyed bowling and all his associations with his teammates, and umpiring baseball and softball for 19 years. Bob was a long time member of the Moose Lodge in Perry and Legion of the Moose. He was a big fan of the Cubs and the Hawkeyes. The last three years he resided at Perry Healthcare where he loved to play Bingo and go out with the "lunch bunch". Bob was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Cheryl Denise, brothers Richard as an infant, Donald, Elmer "Bud", Jack, and Larry sisters Carol Jean as an infant, and Elizabeth Rowe. Bob is survived by his wife of 55 years, JoAnn; son Robert Jr. (Becky Walton) of Rippey, Iowa; daughters Jolene Galvan (Ciso) of Perry, Iowa; Mary Lingner of Perry, Iowa; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters Betty Palmer of Georgia; Fern Waldo and Karen Handsaker both of Kansas; and Judy Sinclair-Lankford (Lyle) of Perry, Iowa; brothers Wayne Lingner of Osceola, Iowa; Bill Lingner (Helen) of Detroit, Michigan; and Jim Lingner of Springfield, Missouri; sister-in-law Liz Lingner of Perry, Iowa; his special niece Vicky Perry of Perry, Iowa; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends.
