Robert Henry Naylor, son of Charles Naylor and Ethel Cook Naylor, was born February 3, 1917 in Bagley, Iowa and died February 16, 2005 in Jefferson, Iowa at the age of 88 years and 13 days. Robert grew up on a farm in Greene County and attended country school. He graduated from Bayard High School with the class of 1934. Robert farmed for his parents until 1940. On February 3, 1940, Robert was united in marriage to Iva Mae Handley. They were the parents of three sons: Lonnie, Steven and Phillip. Robert farmed until 1951, when the family relocated to Wichita, Kansas where Robert worked at Boeing Air Craft. After a time, the family returned to Jefferson and Robert worked for the R.E.C. until 1955, when he returned to farming. He continued to farm for another 8 years, until the family purchased a home in Jefferson. At that time Robert began working for Franklin Manufacturing, where he remained until his retirement in 1979. In 1988, he and Iva moved to Adam's Court. Robert had quite a "green thumb" and found much enjoyment in gardening. He was also an avid reader and could often be found with a good book. Before his health began to fail, one of his favorite past-times was fishing. Robert was a member of the Assembly of God Church where he faithfully attended and supported until his health failed. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Ethel Naylor, his brother Leonard Naylor and his sister Fern Johnson. He is survived by his wife Iva of Jefferson; sons: Lonnie and his wife Jean of Boliver, Missouri, Steven of Perry, and Phillip and his wife Marilyn of Rippey; three grandsons: Trent of Ames, Charles and his wife Jolene of Boliver, Missouri, and Jarred of Rippey; and one granddaughter: Sheryl of Mt. Union; other relatives and a host of friends.
