Robert E. Noehren was born November 16, 1924, in Portsmouth, Iowa, the son of Henry and Helen (Hipner) Noehren. Robert was a Project Engineer for the Indiana State Hwy. for 23 years, retiring in 1987. He was confirmed in the Lutheran faith and attended Gethsemane Lutheran Church. He was a World War II veteran serving in the 8th Air Force and flew in 35 missions in the 391st squadron. He was a member of American Legion Post 82, AMVETS 55, V.F.W. 1477 and the Elks. Survivors include his wife, Letha (Nelson) Noehren of Fort Wayne, Indiana; sons, Bruce (Liz) Noehren of Omaha, Nebraska and Robert (JoAnn) Noehren of Fort Wayne, Indiana; daughters, Kristine (Tim) Momper of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Pamela (Steve Campbell) Kokosa, Indiana, Dorothy (Matt) Stieber of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Shari (Ric) Caldwell of Batesville, Indiana; sister, Dorothy Chipman of Harlan, Iowa; 14 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Edward, Henry and Donald; a sister, Margaret Pauley; and two grandchildren, Dawn Noehren-Weaklend and Dylan Stieber. Burial: 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 30, 2005, at the Lorimor Cemetery in Lorimor, with military honors performed by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8142 and the American Legion Post 184 of Winterset.
