Robert William Anderson, Jr.

Robert (Bob/Bobby) William Anderson Jr., 63, passed away peacefully on February 8, 2023 with his wife, Debbie, at his side. He was born November 25, 1959 in Des Moines, Iowa to Robert (Bob) and Mona Anderson.

Bobby attended Waukee Schools, graduating in 1978. He went to work for US West where he met the love of his life Laurie, whom he married in Las Vegas. They spent many happy years together before he lost her to Huntington's.

One of Bob's greatest joys in life besides spending time with his family was bowling. He was in multiple leagues, bowling almost daily. He was fortunate enough to meet the second love of his life, Debbie, in one of those leagues. He also enjoyed playing darts, either in a league or with family and friends. He was also an avid reader. He enjoyed watching many television series, especially Star Trek.

Bobby struggled with many health issues in the last several years. His strength and positive attitude helped him win those many battles when the odds were stacked against him. He fought to the very end until his body could take no more and he went home to Laurie and Mom.

Bobby is survived by his father Bob, sister Wanda (Scott) Harter, brother Richard (Cindy) Anderson, stepdaughter Jenny Long, grandchildren Brandon, Devin, Tate, and Ashlin, stepdaughter Cynthia Hildebrand, nieces Casey, Kirstie, Kendall, and Safire, nephews Dylan, Steele, and Stryker, three great nieces and three great nephews.

His passing has left a huge hole in the hearts of everyone that knew and loved him.

Bobby's Celebration of Life services will be held on Thursday, February 23rd at 11:00 a.m. at Lutheran Church of Hope, 925 Jordan Creek Parkway, West Des Moines with a lunch at the church following the service.
