Robert William Woods

Robert “Bob” Woods, 77, passed away on Friday, October 7, 2016. Bob’s life was a life of service. He served in the U.S. Air Force, as a Polk County Sheriff’s Deputy, and on the Fire and Police Departments in Pleasant Hill, Iowa, and he later served as Chief of the Pleasant Hill Police Department. After leaving the police department, Bob served over 20 years as an Investigator and as a Bureau Chief for the State of Iowa. Bob was preceded in death by his sister, Martha Ann Marquis; his father, Robert E. Woods; and his mother, Bertha Jones. He is survived, and will always be loved by, wife, Cheryl Christine Woods; sisters, Linda Chongo, Diane Kouri and Georgette Toogood; his step-mother, Jeanette Woods; children, Robert Woods, Cathy Rankin and John States; grandchildren, Ashlee, Justin, Laci, Jack and Beckett; and five wonderful great grandchildren. Robert’s cremated remains will be buried on Thursday, October 13, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. at the Iowa Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Van Meter, Iowa.
