Rochelle Elaine Updike

Rochelle Elaine Updike, 62, of Perry, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at Aspire of Perry.

Rochelle was born on December 7, 1962, the daughter of Jack and Frances (Schultz) Updike. She earned a business degree from AIB and went on to own and operate a tattoo shop in Perry before dedicating 17 years of her career to the Woodward Resource Center.

Rochelle had a passion for drawing and enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially camping and fishing. Her love for tattoos was a central part of her life, as was her devotion to her dogs, who have since passed away. 

She was a gifted storyteller with strong political views and an interest in conspiracy theories. Rochelle also loved listening to the Blues, attending concerts, and even had the opportunity to play a few famous artists’ guitars. Above all, she cherished her family, especially her grandchildren, who brought her immense joy.

Rochelle was preceded in death by her father, Jack Updike, and her brother, Raeford Updike.

She is survived by her fiancé, Davey Greif of Bouton; son, Ian Nelson (Faye) of Carroll, Iowa; her daughter, Sydney Updike (Dakota) of Fort Dodge; her beloved grandchildren: Zoee Helmantoler, Aaron Nelson, Charlie Sue, Dariel, Lex, Jammie, Mae, Layla, Quinten, and Davian; eight great-grandchildren; her mother, Frances Updike of Perry; her sister, Rhonda Thornberg (Dave) of Bouton; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Rochelle’s memory will be treasured by all who knew and loved her.
