A graveside committal will take place at a later date in the Garner Cemetery, Bridgewater. Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation. Rocky Lee Funke, son of Howard and Lois (Ruch) Funke, was born April 29, 1954 in Greenfield, Iowa. He grew up in Adair County and graduated from Bridgewater-Fontanelle High School in 1972. Rocky was married to Jolene Raper and to this union a son, Aaron was born. He later married Dorie Dible and to this union a daughter, Amanda was born. Rocky established Funke’s Plumbing and Heating in Bridgewater soon after his graduation from high school and later worked in utility construction, building water main and sewer infrastructure. He has worked for Vanderpool Construction as well as other contractors in and around central Iowa and most recently was employed with Synergy Construction. Rocky was not one to join organizations but rather enjoyed fishing and boating. His friends and family will recall how he was always willing to help others with a project. He enjoyed playing cards and was always up for a good game. He taught many people so many things; whether it was how to fix something, how to hunt, looking for mushrooms, the right way to fish or how to play cards. He was a wonderful listener and confidant. All this said, Rocky was a great dad, wonderful grandfather and friend to many. So many people looked up to him as father and he treated everyone like family. There are so many great things to say about him…he will be missed by all! Rocky is survived by his two children, Aaron (Amanda) Funke of Pearland, TX and Amanda (Jared) Auten of Winterset; two stepsons, Travis Henley and Robert Henley; significant other, Kellie Conner; two sisters, Sherry (Jim) Ruggles of Beatrice, NE and Cindy (Terry) Wambald of Oklahoma City, OK; a brother, Howard “Butch” Funke of Fontanelle; four grandchildren, Chloe Ryan, Kaleigh Funke, Dominic Tucker and Lynley Auten; step-grandchildren Skyler, Lonna, Alegra, and Mia Henley, extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Marcia Schmitt and Rebecca Dunkerson.
