Rod Podoll

August 12, 1948 — February 11, 2005

Rod was born August 12, 1948 in Adams, Wisconsin, the son of Donald and Phoebe (Lynn) Podoll. He was a 1966 graduate of Adams Friendship High School. He served in the United States Army for 6 years with two tours in Vietnam. Survivors include his wife, Lois of Winterset, three daughters, Janine Wilson and her husband, Tim of Jackson, Minnesota; Michelle Podoll of Britt; Miranda Podoll of Winterset; son, Michael Podoll of Winterset; sister, Pam Bleich of Campbellsport, Wisconsin; bother, Randy Podoll and his wife, Sue of Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin and 2 grandchildren, Jessica and Nick Wilson. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother. His marriage to Lois Boetel took place on December 28, 1974 at Concordian Lutheran Church in Lake Park, Iowa. He moved his family to Winterset in 1988. During his working career he was an auto mechanic as well as a truck driver, and was employed as a driver with Capital City Fruit of Norwalk for the past 17 years. He also taught Auto Mechanics at DMACC. His was especially interested in Hot Rod Garden Tractor Pulling and was a member of MAPA (Mid American Pulling Association). Visitation: 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, where the family will be present to receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 February 14, 2005 at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset Service: 10:00 a.m., Tuesday February 15, 2005 at St. Paul Lutheran Church Memorial: Memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
