Roger Dean 'Dean' Borcherding

Roger Dean Borcherding, 88, passed peacefully in his sleep Thursday, April 6 at Bickford Cottage in Urbandale. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 10 at McCalley Funeral Home in Adel with burial at Wiscotta Cemetery in Redfield. Friends may call after Noon Sunday at the funeral home where family will greet friends from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Roger “Dean” was born November 26, 1928 to Edward and Louise Borcherding. He grew up on a farm in Redfield and graduated from high school in 1947. After graduating from high school, he married his high school sweetheart, Ardy Christensen, in 1947. He was a wonderful husband and father who enjoyed family, friends, camping, fishing, gardening and working in his shop. Dean is survived by his daughter, Jena (Jim) Merical; sons, Keith (Sue) Borcherding and Roger (Cindy) Borcherding; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. He was preceded in death by both his parents; four siblings; a son, Earl, and his loving wife, Ardy. Memorial contributions may be directed to Suncrest Hospice in West Des Moines.
