Roger Stacy

November 1, 1951 — May 25, 2021

Roger Wayne Stacy, 69, of Baxter, passed away on Tuesday, May 25, 2021, at the Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines. A Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 29, 2021, at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home - Mc Calley Chapel in Adel. Service will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Altoona Cemetery. Roger was born on November 1, 1951 to Charles R. “Dick” and Dorothy E. (Stephens) Stacy in Winterset, Iowa. He attended Adel High School, graduating with the class of 1970. He then went on to attend and graduate from Des Moines Area Community College with a degree in Diesel Mechanics. He worked for over 40 years as a diesel mechanic, first for Pulley Freight Lines and finishing his career at George Transit Lines. Roger enjoyed working on cars, trucks, motorcycles and anything mechanical. He could fix just about anything himself, or give you guidance, on how to do it yourself. Roger was very creative and used his skills like welding, cutting and grinding to help anyone who needed something built or fixed. He always looked like a rough and tuff guy, but his family and friends knew he was the kindest and nicest person you could ever meet. He had a giving heart and would always help anyone in need. He loved hanging out with his grandchildren, and would do almost anything they asked. From teaching them things like how to fish, ride ATV’s, shooting guns, work on cars and watching them play sports. Even jumping on the trampoline and pulling them on a sled behind the 4-wheeler. The best part was spending time with them and making them laugh. Roger also had and unconditional love of animals, which began at an early age, raising hogs and chickens on the farm and continued throughout his life, with the companionship of his dogs. Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Dick and Dorothy Stacy, and granddaughter, Brooklyn Neff. He is survived by his daughter, Heather (Kim) Stacy-Howard; stepdaughter, Angela (Shane) Wagner; stepson, Jason Holsinger; and 6 grandchildren, Tim, Miguel, Isabella, Jada, Journee and Harper. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be donated to the American Cancer Society in memory of Roger. Online condolences may be left to the family at www.caldwellparrish.com
