Rollie Edward Robbins, Jr. of Patterson, Iowa passed in his home Tuesday, June 14, 2016 surrounded by loved ones at the age of 73. This was in stark contradiction to how he has long stated he wanted to go; 80 years old, lying in bed next to a beautiful woman, shot by a jealous husband. A visitation with family present will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, June 16, at the Patterson Community Building in Patterson. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, June 17, at the Patterson Community Building, with burial to follow in the Montpelier Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family and Ochiltree Funeral Service in Winterset has been entrusted with arrangements. Online condolences may be left for the family at ochiltree.com. Rollie was born May 1943, and spent his life building the infrastructure most of society takes for granted. If you are in Des Moines, and you are standing on concrete, there is a high probability Rollie had a hand in bringing that to life. Beyond construction, he followed his passions: fishing, hunting, gardening and the ladies. Rollie was known for his kind and generous nature. He’d give you the shirt off of his back if you needed it and he never left a debt unpaid. He was happily married for 8 years, unfortunately he was married for 13 (his words, not mine). Rollie was preceded in death by his parents, Rollie Sr. and Ruby, and his two brothers with their wives, Bill and Rosey, and John and Diane. He is survived by his sister, Marjorie Robbins of Patterson and his two sons and their families: Rollie Edward Robbins III, his wife Angela of Patterson and their daughters, Samantha and Alexis, and son, Rollie IV and Robert P. Robbins, his wife Deborah and their daughter, Jordan and sons, Jacob, CJ, and Joey.
