Ron Dean Swigert

Ronnie Dean Swigert, age 71 of West Des Moines passed away on Friday, January 6, at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. He was born 2023 on September 4, 1951 at the City Hospital in Sheldon, Iowa. the son of Clarence and Muriel (Grimm) Swigert. His family lived in Sheldon for a short time then moved to Boone. His family moved to Perry when he was in grade school. Ronnie graduated in 1970 from Perry High School. He earned his associate degree in computer programming in 1972 from DMACC. He was employed by Preferred Risk Insurance Company in West Des Moines, Statesman Data Service in Des Moines, The Ahmanson Insurance Companies in Rancho Domingeus, California, Federal Kemper Insurance Company in Decatur, Illinois, Integrated Resources Life Insurance Company in West Des Moines and most recently Principal Financial Group in Des Moines until his retirement. Ron was an Iowa Hawkeye and Minnesota Twins fan. He enjoyed family vacations with his family growing up. He was a member of the West Des Moines United Methodist Church. Preceding him in death were his parents, his brother Jerry Swigert on December 20, 2022, his foster sister Marie Swigert. Survivors include his sister-in-law Brenda Swigert of Perry, his nephew Chad (Shelby) Swigert of Des Moines, his niece Megan (William) Morales of Aurora, Colorado, foster sister Jane Simbro of Altoona, Iowa, aunt JoAnn Grimm of Boone, several cousins, and special friend Larry Johnson of Waukee, Iowa. A private family graveside service will be held at the Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines, Iowa at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the family at the Carris Funeral Home & Cremation Care in Perry.
