Ron E. Purkapile

Ron passed away peacefully Monday, October 1, 2007 in Missouri from complications of heart disease. He was 49. Ron E. Purkapile was born August 14, 1958 in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Carl and Maxine (Schulz) Purkapile. He attended school at Orient-Macksburg High School. Throughout his life, Ron was employed as a welder, car mechanic and presently was a truck driver for G.S.T.C. Trucking. Survivors include his sister, Elaine (John) Ringland of West Des Moines; two nieces, Lorilyn (Joe) Borchardt of Wellington, CO and Kristen Ringland of Ft. Collins, CO; and a great nephew, John Borchardt. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, Ray and Doris Schulz. Ron enjoyed working on car engines, was enthusiastic about History, especially the Civil War era, loved dogs and was an avid reader of western books. He also had a good sense of family and cherished the time he spent with them, particularly deer hunting. He was also a member of AA for over 20 years and was always ready to help those in recovery. Ron was a great and generous friend who was willing to help those in need. He was known to put other’s needs in front of his own.
