Ronald Brown

Ronald Dale Brown was born February 28, 1949 in Winterset, Iowa; the son of Eugene and Esther (Douglas) Brown. His marriage to Marilyn Bricker took place on May 27, 1972 in Kanawha, Iowa and to this union two sons, Cory and Travis, were born. Ron served in the United States Army and while enlisted was stationed in Alaska. He is survived by his two sons, Cory Brown of Patterson; Travis Brown and wife, Lauren of West Des Moines; a granddaughter, Haley of West Des Moines; two brothers, Jim and wife, Christy of Urbandale and Bob and wife, Diana of Patterson; a sister-in-law, Penny Brown of Cabool, MO; and many nieces and nephews. Ron was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Ken Brown. He worked at Meredith, Meredith/Burda and RR Donnelley’s until his retirement as a pressman. Ron was a huge football and baseball fan. He coached little league as well as coaching and playing ball for the Patterson Playboys for many years. He loved rock and roll and enjoyed his time working as a deejay. Ron died Thursday, October 23, 2008 of Muscular Dystrophy at the Kavanaugh House on 56th Street in Des Moines. He was 59. Visitation: 1:00 to 6:00 p.m., Sunday, with family present to receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., October 26, 2008 at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare.
