Ronald G. Woodley was born October 17, 1925 in Cherokee, Iowa; the son of M. B. and Effie (McCullough) Woodley. He was married to Bettie Jean Nitzche for 28 years and to this union two daughters were born, Connie and Peggy. He later married Norma (Kirk) Hines on April 4, 1976 in Winterset, Iowa. Ronald is survived by his wife Norma of Winterset; his daughters, Connie Fizer of Creston, Peggy Kirkland and husband, Carl of Lorimor, Nancy Mountain and husband, Clark of Macksburg, Lynn Hauser and husband, Fred of Winterset, and Holly Schutz and husband, Don of Macksburg; a brother, Merritt Woodley and wife, Phyllis of Winterset; two sisters-in-law, Lois Smith and Kathleen Seales; 16 grandchildren, Jeffery Fizer, Teresa Reiste, Tony Fizer, Jackie Chumbley, Jamie Holste, Robert Kirkland, James Kirkland, Thomas Kirkland, Amanda Mountain, Sally McDonald, Ben Wagner, Jill Hauser, Kaleb Schutz, Kalli Hildebrand, Jayne Crandell, and Laura Brimm; and 26 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Bettie; a son-in-law, Roger Fizer; two sisters, Velma Estell and Fern Peterson; a brother, Mervyn; a granddaughter, Brenda Smith; and a great-grandson, Joneus Wagner. Ronald was a life-long resident of Madison County. He farmed and loved raising his Angus cattle. He enjoyed woodworking, traveling, and camping. Ronald died Monday, May 25, 2009 at the Madison County Health Care System in Winterset. He was 83. Visitation: 1:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, with family present to receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., May 27, 2009 at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare, Winterset. Service: 10:30 a.m., Thursday, May 28, 2009 at the United Methodist Church, Macksburg. Memorial: Memorial contributions may be directed to Ronald’s family to designate to charities at a later date.
