A gathering with family will be held 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, January 26, 2012 at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset. Burial in the Lorimor Cemetery will be held at a later date. Memorials to Middle River Hospice will be appreciated. Ronald Lee Kirk was born April 23, 1943 in Osceola, Iowa; the son of John R. and Wilma (McChesney) Kirk. His marriage to Ruth Ann Davis took place on July 19, 1963 at the First Christian Church in Winterset. During his working career, Ronnie worked in the book bindery for the Meredith Burda Corporation. He began his work with Meredith in 1964 and worked 37 years. He was a member of the book binders union and he also farmed and especially loved raising cattle and horses. Ronnie loved watching television, especially westerns. He also loved to eat out at different small town restaurants in central Iowa. He always enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s events, especially their soccer games. Simply said, he loved his family and any time he could spend with them. Ronnie died Sunday, January 22, 2012 at the Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset. He was 68. Ronnie is survived by his wife, Ann of Lorimor; his two sons, Todd (Tonya) Kirk of Creston and Dale (Angie) Kirk of Winterset; ten grandchildren (Sasha (Brad) Giles, Jordan Leonard, Michael and Justin Kirk, Gage and Trey Cheers, Cortni, Mekayla, Austin and Brenden Kirk) and three great grandchildren (Shayli, Adalie and Bradley Giles). He is also survived by his siblings, Raymond Kirk of Chariton; Larry (Mildred) Kirk of Lorimor; Helen Powers of Winterset; Patricia (David) Grandfield of Lorimor; Barbara (Bill) Waller of Oskaloosa; two sisters-in-law, Virginia Kirk of Marshalltown and Sandra Kirk of Lorimor; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Benjamin and Max Kirk.
