Ronald Lee Crecelius

Ronald L. Crecelius, 79 of De Soto, passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at Adel Acres Care Center in Adel. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 11, 2016 at De Soto Calvary Baptist Church in De Soto with burial at Oakland Cemetery. Family will greet friends Sunday, July 10 at the church from 2-5 p.m. Ron was born on April 7, 1937 at Blockton, Iowa to Lloyd and Leota (Ostrander) Crecelius. He married Carolyn Lorene Hon. Ron had lived in De Soto for the past 40 years. He retired from the City of Clive after having worked in the Public Works Department for many years. Ron (Ronnie) was a loving Father and Grandfather. He lived to fish, camp and serve his Savior Jesus Christ. He and his beloved wife, Carolyn, faithfully worshiped and served in their church, De Soto Calvary Baptist Church for over 30 years. Ron and Carolyn were in charge of the bus and van ministry of the church. Each shared the passion of providing a way for children to get to church. Carolyn played the piano and Ron served as a trustee for the De Soto Calvary Baptist. Ron is survived by his sons, Kurt C. (Sandy) of Atlantic and Scott (Dawn) of Grinnell; his daughters, Rhonda Acheson and Mindy Matthews, both of Osceola; sister Clairee (Jesse) Phelps of Lineville; brother in Christ, Lonnie Koons; 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Leota (Ostrander); wife, Carolyn and brother, Edward. Carolyn preceded Ron in going home to heaven in 2009. Now they have been reunited for all eternity, for Ron has gone home to be with the Lord. Memorial Contributions may be directed to the De Soto Calvary Baptist Church or the De Soto Fire Department.
