Ronald "Ron" Johnson

June 5, 1972 — February 8, 2023

On June 5, 1972 Ronald Stanley Johnson made his surprise entrance and was welcomed into the world by his mother Sarah F. Jones and father Stanley G. Johnson and other loved ones who had been eagerly awaiting his July arrival in Chicago, Illinois.

His early childhood was filled with love, family and friends. His infectious smile, adventurous spirit, kind heart, comedic personality, and his love for sports and music would help him make lifelong connections all over Chicago and everywhere he went. Ronnie was a bright, inquisitive child, who excelled in sports and academics, even being offered the opportunity to fellowship with the space program at NASA.

Ron spent most of his late teens and early adulthood in an area of Chicago he lovingly referred to as the “Wild Hundreds”, “119th”, or “Eleven Nine”. There he and his friends would hone their music production, rapping, DJing, breakdancing and pool playing skills. He had swag, was smooth, loved to dress and the ladies loved him. At the tender age of 18 he would have the first of his 10 children and fall in love with being a father.

Ron became a father again before moving to Iowa, where he fathered 4 more children before meeting his wife. Ron and ToyA would marry on December 26, 2004, their second dating anniversary, and over the 20 years they were married they had 3 additional children and he became daddy to ToyA's oldest daughter.

Ron was a loving son, brother, nephew and cousin. Going to Chicago as frequently as he could to see his family and childhood friends. He was a proud husband and father who loved his family and devoted himself to providing for and protecting the heirs of his legacy. He is proud of his children. He was an entrepreneur, while Ron had many jobs, his dream was to open a restaurant and serve the food all his family and friends raved about when he cooked for them. Ron was creative, he loved to draw, rap, and make music, but DJing had his heart. He  DJed local parties while growing up in Chicago and continued to do so living in Des Moines! He loved to see the crowd going crazy to the music he played with smooth blends and hot mixes. Ron was a loyal friend, if he rode there with you he would ride out for you, he was always there to help a friend in need. He was also an avid sports fan and could spend hours watching and debating the pros and cons of his favorite games. His favorite sports teams included the Chicago Bears, Green Bay Packers, and the LA Lakers. Ron was definitely what the young people called Litty! He was the life of the party, anywhere Ron was you know a good time would be had by all. Lastly but most importantly he was a God-fearing man, who proclaimed Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.
