Rosa Lea ‘Mickey’ Letz, 76, of Winterset, died Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at West Bridge Care and Rehab in Winterset. A memorial service will held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 11, 2018, at the First Christian Church in Winterset; where Pastors Kevin and Sue Blader will officiate. Family will gather from 9:00 a.m. to service time to receive friends. Burial of the cremated remains will be in the Winterset Cemetery and memorials may be directed to Mickey’s family. Rosa Lea Letz was born in Madison County, Iowa on April 4, 1942, the second child born to Louis and Harriet (Sankey) McDonald. She graduated from Earlham Community School in 1961. Her marriage to Dwight Louis Letz took place on September 23, 1961, at the Church of Christ in Earlham. To this union were born two children, Traci and Chad and the couple were married for 46 years. Mickey was an Air Force wife and while Dwight was fulfilling his military career the couple were stationed in many places including; Bellevue, IL, San Antonio, TX, Abilene, TX, Iowa City, Cedar Rapids, Colorado Springs, CO and Dover, DE before eventually returning to Winterset in 1990. Mickey is survived by a daughter, Traci (Letz) Hill and her husband, Rodney of Abilene, Texas; a son, Chad Letz of Shawnee Mission, Kansas; three grandchildren (Justin and Marissa Farmer, Peyton Oles and Alec Letz); a great-granddaughter (Piper Farmer); siblings, Ted McDonald of Winterset, Jo Anne (John) McIntyre of Sun City, AZ; extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dwight who died May 7, 2007; and an infant son, Trevor.
