Graveside Services for Rosella "Rosey" Doherty were held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at Violet Hill Cemetery in Perry. Father Luis Mejia of St Patrick Catholic Church provided words of comfort. Hastings Funeral Home in Perry was in charge of these arrangements. Rosella Mary Doherty "Rosey," daughter of Mathias John Thiltgen and Cecilia Caroline Klaas Thiltgen, was born February 20, 1924 in Menominee, Illinois and died March 24, 2021 at the Perry Lutheran Home in Perry, Iowa. When Rosey was three her family moved to Farley, Iowa, then in 1944 to Savanna, Illinois. After graduating high school Rosey went on to college for a few years. She moved to Perry, Iowa and met the love of her life Gervase Donald Doherty "Bud." The two were united in marriage on May 8, 1948 in Farley, Iowa. They were blessed with two sons Martin John and Mark Matthew. The family moved to Savanna, Illinois until 1967, then to Perry, Iowa until 1977, to Schaumburg, Illinois until 1988, and back to Perry in 1988. Rosey worked as a Legal Secretary and took care of her family. She was a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Perry. Rosey is preceded in death by her parents, husband Gervase "Bud" Doherty, brothers LaVern Thiltgen and Edward Thiltgen and sister Marie Kroeger. She is survived by her two sons Martin John Doherty of Perry and Dr. Mark Matthew Doherty and his wife Carol of Wilmington, Delaware; brother Ralph Thiltgen of East Dubuque, IL; sister Helen Lang of Grundy Center, IA; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
