Rosemary Nelson

Rosemary Nelson, age 91, of Ames, Iowa, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2025, at the Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Born on December 3, 1933, in Millertown, Ohio, she was the daughter of Alfus James and Thelma Marie (McCoy) Linscott.

In 1954, Rosemary married Dr. E. Stanley Nelson, beginning a life of love and partnership that spanned over 60 years. Together, they raised their family and created a home filled with warmth and laughter. After their marriage, the couple made Grosse Isle, Michigan their home before relocating to Springfield, Missouri in 1980. Rosemary had been living in Ames, Iowa, from March, 2024 until her passing..

Rosemary was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She found great joy in spending time with her loved ones and was a constant source of kindness, wisdom, and support. Her sharp wit, gentle spirit, and love for family will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her two sons, Steven (Diane) Nelson of Indianola, Iowa, and John (Jean Haltom) Nelson of Nevada, Iowa; grandchildren, Sarah Stern, Robert Nelson, and Matthew Nelson; and 4 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. E. Stanley Nelson; her parents; grandson, Brice James Nelson; and two brothers.
