On Sunday April 17, 2022, Rosemary (Claerhout) Sloss passed away into God's graces after her battle with cancer. She was 75 years old. Born in Cedar Rapids, Rosemary spent most of her life in the central Iowa area. Her strong faith in God kept her active within the Catholic Church, where she worked for several years and was also a member of the Secular Franciscan Order. Rosemary was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She is survived by her two brothers Jerry Claerhout and Jay Claerhout (Joan). She was a mother to Cory Sloss (Connie), Holly Anderson (Tom), Casey Sloss, and Candice Cunningham (David). She was also a loving grandmother to eight grandchildren: Robby, Jake, Joe, Peter, Marli, Connor, Avery, and Lucia. Rosemary attended St. Anthony’s Catholic Church for weekday and Sunday services. In her free time she enjoyed lunch dates with her Franciscan sisters and close friends. Rosemary was also an avid reader and enjoyed water color, painting and sketching. A visitation will be from 10:00 – 11:00 AM on Friday, April 22, 2022 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Des Moines. A Mass of Christian Burial will start at 11:00 AM on Friday.
