Rosetta Miller Houseman

Memorial Service: 2:00 p.m., Sunday, December 5, 2010 at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare, with family receiving friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Peru Cemetery, Peru at a later date. Memorial Contributions to Middle River Hospice will be accepted. Rosetta, the daughter of the late Albert T. and Grace P. (Dailey) Miller, was born March 1, 1935 in Boone County, Iowa. She was married to Bob Houseman on February 25, 1966 in Peru. She worked as a seamstress for many years at sewing factories including Precision Sewing, Boyd’s Harness, Tenx, and Henry’s Levi Factory. Rosetta also worked for a time at Maid-rite, Tim’s Club Café, East End Café, Madison County Hospital, The Shopper, and Kilpatrick’s Locker. In her free time, she enjoyed sewing, quilting, and reading. Rosetta died Wednesday, December 1, 2010 at Madison County Health Care System in Winterset. She was 75. Rosetta is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Bob of Winterset; her five children, Allen Akers (Patty) of Winterset, Annette Dillinger (Bill) of Peru, Connie Baker (Dave) of Winterset, Gene Akers (Rhonda) of Winterset, and Karen Akers of Winterset; stepchildren, Rick Houseman of Winterset, Nick Houseman of Earlham, Marty Houseman of Winterset, and LuAnn Goodell of Orlando, FL; 2 brothers, Robert Miller (Alice) of Pella and Dean Miller of Boone; 6 sisters, Dorthe Smith of Stanton, Emma Pharoah (Larry) of Charleston, SC, Mary Jo Ducan of Donna, TX, Judy Ball (Steve) of Reeds Spring, MO, Linda Canaday of Grangeville, ID, and Barbara Lemke of Ames; 20 grandchildren (Susan Crowdes, Jimmy Akers, Billi Jo Akers, Christopher Akers, Verl (Sonny) Dillinger, Regina Weig, Dave Baker, Mike Akers, Raymond Akers, Jerimah Akers, Raymond (Nick) England, Melissa Houseman, Robert Houseman, Marie Jungenson, Travis Houseman, Tasha Houseman, Brandon Houseman, Tyrell Houseman, Cody Houseman, Felicia Goodell), 27 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers, Richard Miller and Billy Miller; and 2 grandchildren, Jason Gale and Jessie Akers.
