Ruby Ruth White, daughter of Michael Coil and Ethel Lindsey Coil, was born July 13, 1916 in Jefferson, Iowa and died March 10, 2006, at the CLC Jefferson Manor in Jefferson, Iowa at the age of 89 years, 7 months and 27 days. Ruby attended Dawson School #'s 9 and then 6, before attending high school in Paton and graduating with the class of 1933. She then attended Teachers College in Cedar Falls. Her first teaching job was at Bristol Township School, where she taught for 2 years. Ruby was united in marriage to Merle White on December 23, 1935 at the Central Christian Church parsonage in Jefferson. They were parents of three children: Marilyn, Richard, and Gene. Ruby was a member of the Hardin Friendly Club. She was an avid bowler and served as President, Vice President and Secretary/Treasurer of the Bowling League for many years. During the 1989-1990 bowling season, Ruby was inducted into the Greene County Womens Bowling Hall of Fame. Above all, Ruby loved her family and was very proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She treasured spending time with all of them. Ruby was preceded in death by her parents; husband Merle; grandson Brian Mobley; son-in-law John Mobley, Jr.; sister Eva Mae Jensen and brother Michael Coil. She is survived by her daughter Marilyn Mobley of Jefferson; her sons: Richard White and his wife June of Chelsea; and Gene White of Franklinton, Louisiana; six grandchildren: Tim Mobley (Carol) of Jefferson; Peggy Wahl (Jerry) of Colorado; Scott White (Teri) of Altoona; Mitch Mobley (Kris) of Jefferson; John Mobley III (Jacki) also of Jefferson; and Dr. Aaron Mobley (Franci) of Ft. Dodge; eighteen great-grandchildren; her brother Melvin Coil of Jefferson and brother-in-law Carl Jensen of Omaha; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
