Russell W. Utsler

Russell Wayne Utsler, 78, of Peru died January 25, 2019, at his home. A visitation will be held at Ochiltree Funeral Service from 2 to 4 p.m., Saturday, February 2nd with family present to receive friends during this time. Memorial contributions may be made to the family for a later designation and online condolences may be left for the family at ochiltree.com. Russell Wayne Utsler was born October 7, 1940, in Winterset, Iowa; the son of Joe Hannable and Anne Iola (Howard) Utsler. He graduated from Winterset High School in 1959. He was married to Jeannie Mae Kagarice on November 12, 1983, in Winterset, Iowa. Russ was a feeder driver for the United Parcel Service for 20 years, retiring in 2006. Russ began farming his own ground at age 17 and was a lifelong farmer. He is survived by his wife Jeannie Mae Utsler of Peru; four children, Julie (Willie) Wilson, Lynn (Rick Thornburg) Wildin, Alan (Sharray) Utsler and DeAnn (Blaine) Harvey-Lowden; a sister, Donna Deatsch; two brothers, Larry (Micki) Utsler and Rex (Karen) Utsler; a sister-in-law, Tamara Kagarice; and ten grandchildren, Jennifer Miller, Travis Miller, Alyssa Wilson, Jayden Wildin, Nathan Utsler, Kaitlyn Newbury, Colton Newbury, Emma Lowden, Ava Lowden, and Nora Lowden. Russ was preceded in death by his parents; a brother-in-law, Elmer Deatsch; a son-in-law, J. D. Wildin; and a sister-in-law, Renie Kagarice.
