Story City

Ruth Ann Cosner, age 82, of Story City, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 7, 2025, at Bethany Life Communities. A graveside service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, April 11, 2025, at Dallas Township Cemetery near Dawson. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.caldwellparrish.com.

Ruth was born on February 1, 1943, in Texas to George Cosner and Ruth (Lennie) Hoffman. She was a proud graduate of Perry High School. Throughout her life, she dedicated herself to caring for others; working at Perry Lutheran Homes and babysitting was something she truly loved. She also devoted much of her time to running her own business, the Rocking Horse in Perry.

She had a passion for gardening and was especially fond of flowers and plants. In her earlier years, she enjoyed fishing and never missed her favorite soap operas. Ruth had a big heart, was incredibly social, and always found joy in caring for others. Above all, her greatest joy came from her family, especially the moments spent with her grandchildren.

Ruth is lovingly remembered by her children: Mike (Claudia) Allen of Florida; Bobby Allen of Oskaloosa, Iowa; Susan (Edward) Read of Stratford, Iowa; and Kenny Jones (Tosha Hickan) of Jefferson, Iowa. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and a large extended family of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Gary Snowgren, and her brothers and sisters.
