Ruth E Mcghee

Ruth Elaine (Dyer) McGhee, age 95, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2019 at Bishop Drumm Care Center in Johnston, Iowa. She was born December 14, 1923 in Marion County, Iowa to Leonard and Jennie Dyer. She grew up in Pleasantville, Iowa and later moved to the Des Moines area. Ruth was always smiling and was loved by all who knew her. She enjoyed reading and could often be found engrossed in a book. Her love of books and learning transferred to her job as librarian at the Iowa State Capitol, or Statehouse, as she liked to call it, where she worked for many years. Family was very important to Ruth. She had many, many pictures of different family members and loved looking at them and sharing memories with everyone who visited her. She lived a long life and was preceded in death by many family members including her daughter, Donna (Molly) McGhee Price and her grandson, Andy McGhee. Left to cherish Ruth’s memory are her sons, Dan McGhee (Candace) and Mike McGhee; niece, Beverly Ann Kroger; grandchildren Laura Hanson (Tony), Jessica Cooper (Jerry), Maureen Hanson (Curt), Jeremy McGhee, Bryan McGhee and many great grandchildren.
