Ruth Schooler Felton died on June 3, 2017, at her home in Indianola, Iowa. According to Ruth's wishes no services are planned. Ruth was born October 5, 1918, in the Scotch Ridge Community in Warren County. She was the daughter of Pearle Sones and Austin Schooler. She attended Scotch Ridge rural school, Indianola High School and graduated from Simpson College in 1939, where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta. She taught school in Lawton, Iowa, until she was married. Ruth was united in marriage to Glendal Felton on October 12, 1940. They lived in Indianola where Glendal operated a grain and feed business. She was dedicated to her family and home. Ruth and Glendal had seven children. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Chapter BP, PEO, Simpson Guild, and was an avid reader, enjoyed playing bridge for over 75 years, and collecting antiques. In 1970, Ruth started work with Job Services of Iowa as a placement interviewer where she stayed until her retirement in 1986. She and her husband enjoyed building a home for retirement, traveling extensively, and being with their family and friends. She is survived by three daughters, Patricia (Dennis) Cooney, Indianola, Susan (Fred) Leverman, Norwalk, and Jenny (Brent) Terrell, Indianola; seven grandchildren, Libby Felton, Stacey (Dan) Schnathorst, Jessica (Sangka) Luck, Jill (Tony) Lamb, Ann Terrell, Mark (Kathryn) Leverman, Katie Leverman; nine great-grandchildren, Danny and Colton Schnathorst, Jack and Ewan McCrann, Eli and Lexi Leverman, Tessa Lamb, and Henry and Liam Luck; one sister, Janet Tholen of McKinney, Texas; and several nephews, great nephews and great nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glendal Felton in 1996; her four children, Mark Felton, Scott Felton, Jack Felton, Jill Felton; and sister, Maxine Smith of Washington, Iowa. Memorial contributions may be made to The Indianola First United Methodist Church or the Indianola Public Library.
