To view the livestream service, click on Tribute Wall above then watch now. Sandy Bauer passed away from this life on Tuesday, August 23, 2022 following a brief illness. Sandra Jean Bauer was born October 12, 1939 in Grand Meadow, MN. She grew up on the family dairy farm in Prescott, WI and was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ. She attended and graduated from Prescott High School where she participated in band and 4H. Following graduation, Sandy worked as a nurse’s aide prior to enrolling and graduating from Charles T. Miller Hospital earning her LPN degree. On July 2, 1960, she married the love of her life, Michael Martin Bauer, at Fort Leonard Wood, MO. Shortly after, Sandy and Mike moved to Fort Benning, GA where they welcomed sons Randy and Boyd. While in Georgia Sandy worked at St. Francis Hospital in Columbus. Following their time in the army they moved to Marshall, MN where their family grew with the addition of two daughters, Michelle and Jocelyn. While in Marshall, Sandy worked at Louis Weiner Memorial Hospital. Sandy looked forward to annual family camping trips and enjoyed hosting neighbors, friends, and family in her home. In 1974 the family made their way to Iowa where Sandy enjoyed a successful career with Blue Cross Blue Shield. In August of 2000 Sandy celebrated her retirement with friends and family. During her retirement she worked part-time. Sandy dedicated her time to volunteering in the classroom and enjoyed mentoring students. In 2020, Sandy, along with her husband Mike, took great pride in celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary. She was an active member of St. Boniface Catholic Church. Sandy was also a member of the Central Iowa P. Buckley Moss Society where she took pride in assisting with their many educational philanthropy projects. Throughout her life, Sandy never met a stranger and became a good friend to all she met. She lived her life with joy and happiness. She was kind, caring, and extremely generous. Sandy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, great-aunt and sister-in-law. She was a cherished friend to all who knew her. Sandy is survived by her children Randy (Carmen) Bauer, Boyd Bauer, Michelle (Bill) Dudek, and Jocelyn (Orrin) Bauer-Nelson; her eight grandchildren Eric (Amanda) Bauer, Ashley (Dylan) Havens, Hannah Dudek, Jon Bauer, Kelsey Bauer, Claire Dudek, Zachary Baker and Michael Baker; sisters Elizabeth Kullmann, Barbara Kittleson, Nancy Wilson, and brother Bill Schroeder as well as several loving nieces and nephews and grand-nephew and grand-nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mike Bauer, her parents, Leo and Jean Schroeder, and brothers-in-law John Kullmann, Sam Kittleson, Bill Wilson, Bruce Doughty, Charles Bauer and sister-in-law Sandy H. Bauer. Sandy’s generous donation through the Iowa Donor Network will provide enough tissue to help 25 breast cancer patients with breast reconstruction surgery. In Sandy’s memory, monetary donations can be made to St. Boniface Catholic Church, 1200 Warrior Lane, Waukee, Iowa 50263.
