Sandra Rae Hamlin, daughter of Claude Hasty and Lucille Griffin Hasty, was born April 29, 1947 in Jefferson, Iowa and died March 11, 2006 at the Perry Lutheran Home in Perry, Iowa at the age of 58 years, 10 months and 12 days. Sandra's family lived in Herndon and Sandra attended school in Jamaica, graduating from YJB High School with the class of 1965. She did secretarial work in Elgin, Illinois and then Des Moines. Sandra married Gordon Hamlin at the Presbyterian Church in Des Moines. They were the parents of two daughters: Heather and Stephanie. Sandra kept busy as a homemaker and raising her daughters. After moving to Boone for 3 years, they returned to Herndon. After a terrible car accident, they moved to Perry. Sandra made Perry her home for 25 years. With her MS out of remission, Sandra entered the Perry Manor, later moving to the Perry Lutheran Home. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Perry. Sandra was always good natured and strived to find the happy side of things. She loved owls and had quite a collection. She also enjoyed gardening and ceramics. Sandra loved the holidays, especially Christmas, and she was an Elvis fan. Her family was most dear to her and she found special enjoyment in her grandchildren. Sandra was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents. She is survived by her daughters: Heather Everman and her husband Stacy of Dallas Center and Stephanie Welder and her fianc Gerald Johnson of Perry; 5 grandchildren: Misty Everman, Seth Welder, Damon Welder, Jake Johnson and Lacie Hemphill; 1 great-grandchild: Sophia Jean Hemphill; brother: Orville Deardorf and his wife Rita of Bagley; sisters: Phyllis Chrisp of Clear Lake, California; Dolores McNeill and her husband Charles of Bagley; Charlotte Stanley of Elgin, Illinois and Judy Knapp and her husband George of Guthrie Center; aunt Geneieve Hasty of Bagley; many other relatives and friends.
