Sara Gwinn

Sara Gwinn, 52, passed away surrounded by the love of her family on November 28, 2023. She was born on February 22, 1971 in Des Moines, Iowa.

Sara was a vibrant soul whose smile and laughter would illuminate any room. She was exceptionally creative in how she thought and tastefully put things together. Her wisdom was profound. As a child, she enjoyed camping trips with her family. Her love for her family, especially her cherished daughter, was unparalleled, and she found immeasurable joy in spending quality time with them. In her life, Sara was able to discover profound hope, comfort, and strength in the love of God that she could embrace each day of her life. To God be the glory.

We are immeasurably grateful to the East 17th Church of God in Christ for providing Sara with a nurturing community and a space to cultivate her faith in Christ. We want to thank Eyerly Ball Services and Mainstream Living for their support throughout the years. Lastly we want to thank all the dedicated medical providers who compassionately cared for Sara.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Kaylynne (Ethan) Van Rooy; close friend, Mara Abolins; and her loving extended family. She is preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Lynne Stewart.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 16th, from 10:00-11:00 a.m. with a celebration of life service at 11:00 a.m. at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home in Urbandale.

Sara’s generosity extended even beyond her time on this earth, as she selflessly chose to be an organ donor. Her legacy lives on through the lives she touched and the hope she shared with those in need. May her memory be a source of inspiration and comfort to all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
