Scott Allan Dickson, 62, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, February 26, 2024, in West Des Moines, Iowa.
Scott was born on September 6, 1961, in Des Moines. He graduated from Adel-DeSoto High School in 1979.
Scott began his professional career as a clothing salesman, then went on to sell computers and software at Dell and Apple Computers. His jobs took him to several cities before he finally landed in Austin, Texas. Scott loved the exciting lifestyle of Austin and many of his friends lived nearby. And he could play golf every day of the year! But distance did not keep him from his family and friends back home. Scott flew or drove back to Iowa on frequent occasions to reconnect with everyone. Often, bringing his sidekick Louis with him. Of course, the annual Adel Sweetcorn Festival would not have been the same without Scott!
After nearly 40 years as a record-setting salesman, Scott finally retired to enjoy life and create memories doing the things he loved. Scott was an avid golfer and fanatical about Dallas Cowboys and Texas Longhorns football. He loved laughing, joking, and spending time surrounded by family and friends. Everyone had a place in Scott’s heart and he in theirs. Scott was loved by many and will be missed by them all.
Scott is survived by his father, Norman; two brothers, Randy and James; two nephews, Ryan and Clint; two nieces, Kelli Tutwiler and Janelle Ryan; numerous cousins; and a special friend, Kim (Penfield) Van Pelt, who helped Scott during some challenging times.
Scott was predeceased by his mother, Karal Ann Potter; stepfather, Charles Potter; sister Kelly Elizabeth Moffitt; and nephew, Harley James Dickson.
Services will be held at the Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home, 735 South 14th Street, Adel, Iowa, on Tuesday, March 5, 2024. Visitation will begin at 10 am. Funeral services are at 11 am followed by burial at the Oakdale Cemetery in Adel.
Scott would love any donations to be made to Pug Rescue at https://donate.rescueme.org/pug
