Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m., Monday, June 6, 2011 at the United Methodist Church in Orient. Burial will be in the Orient Cemetery, Orient. Visitation: 1:00 to 6:00 p.m., Sunday, June 5, 2011 at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare, with family present to receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Memorial Contributions: May be directed to his family. Shane was born October 18, 1967 in Creston, Iowa. He graduated from East Union High School in the class of 1987. His marriage to Stacey Ruth took place on April 10, 2004 at the United Methodist Church in Orient. Shane owned and operated Cass Monument Setting and Repair since 1991 and Cass Tree Service for the past three years. Shane also worked as a mechanic at Merrill’s Garage in Winterset. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and trapping. Shane especially loved spending time with his wife and daughters, Christa and Marissa. Shane died unexpectedly Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at his home. He was 43. He is survived by his wife Stacey Cass of Peru; his two daughters at home, Christa (6) and Marissa (2); his father, Leland Cass of Afton; a sister Patty (Terry) Weinkoetz of Afton; two brothers, Tony (Peggy) Cass of Creston and David (Alissa) Cass of Omaha, NE; parents-in-law, Doyle and Polly Ruth of Orient; brother-in-law, Travis (Kelli) Ruth of Orient; aunt, Lola Strauser of Creston; and nine nieces and nephews (Sunshine Crawford, Dylan Cass, Chad Cass, Christopher Cass, Micheal Weinkoetz, Katlin Weinkoetz, Alissa Weinkoetz, Kennedy Wheat, and Carson Wheat). He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Josephine Cass; an aunt, Twylah Fienhage; and an uncle, Harold Strauser.
