Sharon Ann Hansen

Sharon Ann Hansen, 80, was taken by her Merciful Lord on February 13, 2023, at Bickford of Urbandale Assisted Living & Memory Care, passing peacefully in her sleep after a long battle with dementia.

Sharon graduated from Van Meter High School and continued her education at Northwest Missouri State College, Drake University, and American Institute of Business. She was employed by Plymouth Congregational Church. Her hobbies included travel, fiber crafts, playing music, and spending time with her beloved dogs.

She is survived by her daughter, Valerie McKinney of Urbandale; son David Hansen of Des Moines; daughter Victoria Springer (Paul) of Montgomery, AL; and three grandchildren. She was preceded by her husband of 39 years, Edmund C. Hansen, Jr.; her parents Gilbert F. and Pearle Johnson; and her sister Sheryl Kuder (John).

The family will greet friends from 9:00-11:00 on Monday, February 20, at St. Stephen Lutheran Church (3510 72nd St., Urbandale), with a service at 11:00 and luncheon to follow. She will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband at the Van Meter Cemetery.
