Sharon Connor Cooper

August 6, 1940 — July 28, 2024

Sharon Connor Cooper, age 83, of Johnston, Iowa, passed away peacefully on July 28th, 2024. Sharon was born on August 6th, 1940, in Grand Island, Nebraska, where she spent her early years and graduated from Grand Island High School.


After leaving Grand Island, Sharon lived in Denver, Colorado, before moving to Southern California. It was there that she met her beloved husband of 53 years, Ron Cooper. Together, they eventually moved back to Iowa, where they made their home and raised their son, Randy.


Sharon had a fulfilling career at Mercy Medical Center, from which she retired after many years of dedicated service. Sharon was loved by her co-workers and known for her caring nature and commitment to helping others.


In her retirement, Sharon cherished outings with her friends and was an active member of the Red Hat Society for much of her life, enjoying the camaraderie and support of her fellow members. Sharon also loved traveling and spending time with family and friends.


Sharon is survived by her loving husband, Ron Cooper; her son, Randy Cooper, and his wife, Emily; and her stepchildren, Cephus Cooper-Payne, Doris Lourance, and Misty Todd; her brother-in-law, Denny Cooper, and sisters-in-law Melody Cooper and Connie Boucher. She was also a devoted aunt to many nieces and nephews, a loving grandma, great-grandma, and great-great-grandma, whose love and kindness will be dearly missed by all who knew her.


She was preceded in death by her parents, Everett and Thelma Booth, and her siblings, Mort, Stanley, and Sandy Booth.


A visitation will be held on Monday, August 5th, at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home in Adel from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Following the visitation, a graveside service will take place at 12:30 PM at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Adel.


Sharon was passionate about supporting Veterans, as a military wife for many years. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project in Sharon's memory.


Sharon's family extends their heartfelt gratitude for the love and support they have received during this difficult time. Sharon will be remembered for her sweet and kind disposition, generosity, and unwavering love for her family and friends.
