Elma Sharon Joanne Odin was born September 3, 1937, to Emil and Madonna (Derry) Odin in Perry, IA. She graduated from Rippey High School in 1955, continuing her education at beauty school in Waterloo. She married Larry High on August 31, 1958. Sharon worked as a hairdresser in Iowa City while Larry attended law school before moving to Iowa Falls in 1964. They enjoyed entertaining and traveling, eventually enjoying a second home in Yuma, Arizona. They were later divorced. Sharon was a woman of deep faith, a care giver who helped her children, extended family, her grandchildren, her church family and anyone who was in need. Caring for others called her to Wisconsin, California and Arizona before coming back to Iowa. She was well known for her wonderful candies, pies and bread pudding; however, her personal favorite treats were her dear friend Dorothy's sugar cookies and a special ice cream from a Wisconsin dairy. She also loved making special white chocolate mints for her son's restaurant. Sharon loved to read and was deeply interested in other countries and cultures. Throughout her life, Sharon was very involved in each church that she was a member in the many communities she lived in. She was always willing to step up and serve in leadership roles. Sharon helped the Methodist Church in Waunakee, WI achieve their vision of moving from a rental space in a metal business building to a beautiful structure of their own during her time there. She was a volunteer in many other organizations such as Girl Scouts, 4H and Hospital Auxiliary to name a few, but most recently enjoyed working with Church Women United in Iowa Falls and was involved in the project to acquire the new building for the Iowa Falls CWU Thrift Store. She was very proud of the group of men and women who work so hard to give back to their communities. Sharon is survived by her son, Alex High of Hampton, IA; daughters Rochelle High of Lynnwood WA; Renee (R.D.) Nair of Lodi, WI; her sister Dina (Chuck) Hastings of Perry, IA; brother Jim (Pam) Odin of Rippey, IA; six Grandchildren and 12 Great-Grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.
