Sharon Rae Sissel, 86, the most amazing mother, grandmother, friend and neighbor, passed from this heavenly Earth February14, 2022, at her home in Winterset, Iowa, to join her Lord and Savior. Sharon was born January 3, 1936, in Columbus Junction, Iowa, the daughter of Claude Emmit and Alta Marie Lukins. At the age of 16, Sharon met Richard Sissel at a Youth for Christ rally. Sharon and Richard were married August 27, 1954. To this union, Sharon and Richard had four children they cherished: Leonard, James, Daniel and Angela. In the early years of their marriage, Sharon and Richard spent nearly a year as missionaries in Africa on the Ivory Coast. This experience was one Sharon cherished and spoke of fondly most of life. Sharon, Richard and their family spent their lives dedicated to giving back to others and the communities of Muscatine; Dubuque; Iowa City; Waterloo; Moline, Ill.; Portage, Wis.; Wheaton, Ill. and Winterset. Sharon loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, friends and church family. She also enjoyed sewing, music, butterflies, and attending auctions and gatherings with her church family.
